Abstract :
[en] What is the use of works of art if they are no longer just intended to be "beautiful"? What impact can they have on political and social life?
During this session, sensitive (plastic) representations of environmental transformations, particularly in the visual arts, will be examined. How can we talk today - in art - about landscape? How to explain the predominant place of the animal world in the field of contemporary art? What forms of creativity can be observed in nature? We could consider different artists (Hiroshi Sugimoto, Richard Long, Cai Guo-Qiang, Karl Blossfeldt, etc.) and theorists (Bernie Krause, Gilles Clément, Vinciane Despret).
[fr] À quoi servent les œuvres d'art si elles n'ont plus seulement vocation à être "belles" ? Quelle incidence peuvent-elles avoir sur la vie politique et sociale ?
On interrogera, lors de cette séance, les représentations sensibles (plastiques) des transformations environnementales, dans les arts visuels en particulier. Comment parler aujourd'hui - en art - du paysage ? Comment expliquer la place prédominante du monde animal dans le champ de l'art contemporain ? Quelles formes de créativité peut-on observer dans la nature ? On pourra envisager différents artistes (Hiroshi Sugimoto, Richard Long, Cai Guo-Qiang, Karl Blossfeldt, etc.) et théoriciens (Bernie Krause, Gilles Clément, Vinciane Despret).
