Abstract :
[fr] La présente enquête sur la typologie des livres de médecine dans l’Égypte byzantine s’inscrit dans un des projets de recherche du Centre de Documentation de Papyrologie Littéraire (CEDOPAL) de l'Université de Liège sur la réception des œuvres des auteurs de l’antiquité classique dans l’Égypte christianisée. Elle consiste à examiner les papyrus littéraires grecs de médecine de la période byzantine (284-641), leur contenu, leur support, leur matériau, leur mise en texte et leur contexte de production et d'utilisation, en vue, non seulement de définir leur spécificité par rapport, à la fois aux autres papyrus littéraires grecs médicaux des époques ptolémaïque et romaine, et aux autres papyrus littéraires et paralittéraires de la même époque, mais aussi d’y déceler des traces éventuelles de copie ou d’utilisation en contexte chrétien.
[en] The present study on the typology of medical books in Byzantine Egypt is part of a larger research project on the reception of Classical authors in Christian Egypt, developed at the Centre de Documentation de Papyrologie Littéraire (CEDOPAL) at the University of Liège. Here I propose to examine various facets of the Greek literary medical papyri from the Byzantine period (284-641): content, format, writing material, layout, and context of production and use. Thus I intend to demonstrate the specificity of this particular type of book in comparison with the Greek medical papyri from Ptolemaic and Roman times, on the one hand, and with other literary and paraliterary papyri from the same period, on the other hand. Furthermore, I will identify traces of the copying and use of Greek medical texts within Christian contexts.
